Zoom's new animal avatar is an Animoji for meetings.

You might be tired of slot video conferencing during this (maybe slow) epidemic, but Zoom thinks it can spice them up. The company has released an avatar that will replace your head with characters.

3D that mimics your facial expressions: Apple's Animoji for virtual offices and classrooms. Only animals like cats, dogs and foxes are available right now, but Zoom is teasing more avatars in the future.

You'll need Zoom 5.10.0 or later on your iOS, Mac, and Windows device. The company emphasizes that this doesn't use facial recognition. The software is looking for the presence of a face. not specifically yours

It should come as no surprise that the novelty wears off quickly, as with Animoji and other digital representations, however, Zoom does suggest that avatars are practical in some cases. Avatars help you avoid showing your real face on camera

without removing all facial expressions, the company says. This could be helpful for teachers and pediatricians who want to elevate their kids' moods, if nothing else. They can provide some much-needed stupidity during boring business seminars.
